Riverfront Park

Riverfront Park, Newark, NJ
Newark CEDC is leading the development of the Riverfront Park expansion. Once completed, Riverfront Park will be two miles long and over 36 acres of parks and walkway. The park will extend from Brill Street in the East to Bridge Street in the Northwest. Design features such as a boat house and performance space are being explored. Newark CEDC is committed to bringing a world class riverfront walkway and park experience to the city of Newark.

Newark CEDC is excited to announce the development of 22 acres of vacant downtown Newark property to create the Triangle Park Project, connecting the Ironbound, Penn Station, and Prudential Center areas. The project will include public, open spaces, and much-desired commercial and residential units, all of which will boost Newark’s tax base. Also included in the project will be a half-mile-long footbridge providing easy access between Newark’s Peter Francisco Park in the Ironbound section of the City, Penn Station, and the Prudential Center.

The City of Newark will oversee the project, while the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation will manage the design and development of the park's public, open-space and footbridge. Edison Properties and J&L Parking Corporation will oversee development of the commercial and residential units. In February 2015, the Newark City Council unanimously passed legislation paving the way for development.
