Join us to officially and welcome Downtown's new restaurant, Cordobesas, on February 14th at 11:30 am!

Cordobesas, located at 85 Mulberry St. is a family owned restaurant that gets its name from an Argentinian town where empanadas are the talk of the town.  Ironically, empanadas are also becoming the talk of downtown Newark just blocks away from the Prudential Center.  The sister duo of Sabrina & Sylvana, who own and operate the family restaurant, first got a taste of empanadas when visiting Argentina for the first time as children.  As fate would have it, the first generation Argentine-American sisters grew up to become a Chef and a Nutritionist, respectively. Their love for their culture and for their hometown of Newark grew into a passion for healthy baked empanadas.

Our team at the Newark CEDC were proud to have helped Sylvana open her first restaurant in her hometown. With the help of Newark CEDC, Sylvana was able to apply for Cordobesas business license through the City's new Online Business License Application, which she expressed was an "easy and great experience" which saved her more time for her business. Furthermore, we helped Cordobesas meet the requirements to get approval from the Landmarks & Historic Preservation.
